It went terribly.  I purchased an 8 hour deal for $545 her at Angie's List.  I had never had any contact with the provider before.  I was told that I would be contacted within 2 days and was not.  The email correspondance was poor.  I had to complain to Angie's List that no one was following up with my emails.  Then my email was finally returned.  Warren was certainly not the friendliest, but the smaller projects were done first OK.  He did not want to do work on putting my new basketball hoop to replace the broken old one in the heat, so we resecheduled.  His assistant did most of the work trying to put up the old hoop, and had a lot of trouble doing it.  He could not figure it out.  I was helping him lift it up his ladder trying to attach it while he was on the roof, but he could not get it to work.  Toward the end, the ladder gave out under me and I fell.  Fortuneatly, I grabbed onto my rain gutter, so I did not get hurt.  He finally put the backboard and rim together, and then waited for Warrent to return to put it up.  The frame on the roof for the backboard was already there, excepty for two new 2x4s to raise the height a few inches.  He then started to put it in 3 inches too high, when basketball hoops are, of course, at 10 feet..  I don't know how a professional can miss by that much.  Anyway, the orignal backboard and hoop that was put up took the previousl handyman I used (who I wish was available for this) took less than 2 hours, including creating the entire frame.  Warren and his assistant took well over 5 hours to put it up, incuding 2 extra hours over the 8 I already paid.  Which means, I'm supposed to pay them an extra $130.  So the installation cost much more than the hoop and backboard itself.  Needless to say, I was very upset when I got the bill. First of all, why does it take a professional 5 hours to put up a basketball hoop onto an already existing frame, except for a small adjestment.  Besides, his assistant, who was perfectly nice, did not know what he was doing.  He could not figure it out, which of course, ate up a lot of time, in addition to installing it way too high first.  I tried calling the company to talk about this, and see if something could be worked out.  I spoke to Warren, who was extremely rude and condescending.  I suppose I will have to pay the bill, but I am very angry about it.  I will never use this company again, nor do I recommend anyone use them ever.  This was very dishonest.  And I will let everyone I know never to use them.

Mr. Hawley was very professional. He even called to let me know his ETA. He picked up the materials needed to replace the particle board under my kitchen sink which was damaged by a leaking garbage disposal. While replacing the particle board, Mr. Hawley noticed a leak in one of the pipes under the sink. He fixed the problem. I was very satified with the work Mr. Hawley performed. Warren Hawley came out and gave an acceptable estimate. Started project on date promised. Project needed additional materials that I approved. Overall  the repairs made were better than I expected it to come out in the end and better then new due to some redesigns that Warren made on the spot and will now allow water to shed off the faux window instead of sitting and seeping behind the wood.  Great job and will hire these guys again in the near future to do some more projects around my home. Don't be confused by the "handyman" label they are really construction professionals.

We had quite a few unexpected setbacks in our bathroom remodel and a friend said to me, "So I guess you wouldn't use your contractor again?"  I replied, "Actually, quite the opposite."  Hawley Construction was a GREAT contractor to work with and I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

The measure of a contractor is how they react when problems arise.  Hawley Construction identified problems before I saw them, and tirelessly worked to resolve them.  They treated me fairly and their staff (particularly their project manager) were incredibly patient and helpful.  In terms of their work product, the bathroom came out looking like a million bucks!  Their cabinet work, in particular, was top notch.

The process of renovating can be brutal!  Assuming that problems may arise, it's important to be able to trust your contractor.  Hawley Construction has integrity.  I was glad to have them handle my remodel.

It went as well as you could expect. Warren, his son and his staff were fantastic. We truly enjoyed our experience with him and his crew, and would work with them again in the future. I needed my sliding doors on my closet repaired and my bathroom towel rack and closet shelf installed.  When I came home, he had fixed my closet door but the main door in the master bedroom was not fixed and was still broken, the towel rack had been installed twelve inches from the place that I had specified. I let the service provider know that I was unhappy with the service and he didn't fix what I had hired him to fix.  We communicated back and forth and he kept saying that he had made all of the necessary repairs even though it is still broken.

Superior work in every respect.

We are delighted with the results of the Master Bathroom remodel, and Master Bedroom new floor project just completed. Converting an early 80's builder grade to premium was the task and they achieved it through quality workmanship and process.  From the bidding to the contract, on to the project design and in to construction. Direct employees and subcontractors alike were all pros and a pleasure to work with at each stage of the work. Recommendations they made for vendors for us to select fixtures were superior, with great customer service. Project management was detailed, timely and attentive. Every subcontractor was absolutely professional.  Ownership involvement was always evident assuring results. A particular shout out Brennan Tile for their recommendation, and most particularly for superlative workmanship. It was a pleasure working with every one of these crew members. There was one problem. For some reason one of the doors on the cabinets didn't close properly and there was a little bit of a gap there. He told me if there was anything wrong that he would come back and fix it but he never really got around to it and I had put the house on the market and it sold within a few weeks, so there was no point to him coming back after that. They were very good. I have nothing but positive things to say about them. The problem it's my rental property and my daughter actually lived in it. It is difficult for her to schedule time so I have to say that we were making it difficult for them to come out and he was very good about it. I mean he worked around our schedule, I have to say he was very good about it. They were very accommodating. I realized that they weren't sitting around with their feet up on the desk smoking cigar and taking coffee wondering when I was going to call them. Not pleased at all.  Initial contact after purchase of a special $125 for 2 hours of handyman work requested 3 different days and times that the services could be provided that would work in my schedule. Offered another day that I didn't choose,  but made it work. Asked what I would like done and was very clear about what was needed in writing. Once the day and time were set was asked to change the time to 5 hours later, changed my plans again to accommodate their schedule. Did give me 4 days advance warning of schedule change. On the day the work was to be done they were running late and asked again what I would like done and I reminded them. They had to stop on the way to the house to get supplies but didn't get all that was needed. I was charged for the time they shopped for the items and once they came to the house, there was very little they could do so they replaced a tub spout and then said they'd have to come back but they could spend a few minutes doing any other jobs I might need. So I had them tighten up loose doorknobs and asked for some bathroom fixtures to be tightened, they did one but not the other. We then started negotiations for how much more I would need to spend to get the work done I had originally requested. Was told it would be $200 more (which was for replacement equipment), plus another fee for the truck to come back, plus an additional $55/hour for the work. They generously offered to honor one hour of the original price, making sure they knew I was getting a deal from their original price of $65/hour. I still needed the work done so I reluctantly set up another appointment, for later the next month. I made arrangements in my calendar to be home when the appointment was set up three weeks in advance. Found out 4 days before the appointment that this would no longer work in their schedule as they had an important appointment and would be unavailable until at least 4 hours after the time scheduled. To me as a customer I had rearranged my schedule to make sure I was home again, and found later that it was a family conflict that kept them from being able to keep the original time. I understand family commitments and would have appreciated knowing that it was a family issue and not "an important appointment" that caused the cancellation of my appointment. I was made to believe there was another job that trumped mine.   So I asked for a refund of the hour I was still owed and was reminded that I still owed them $25 for the tub spout. I will be getting a credit of $30 and all I got for my $125 investment was a new tub spout and the opportunity to discover a company that I could never recommend.

I found Hawley & Sons by doing some research on Angie's List. Based on previous reviews and proximity to my home, I made an inquiry about handyman services. Mr. Hawley responded to my inquiry promptly. Via Angie's List messages, we scheduled an appointment for an estimate of the work I wanted done. Mr. Hawley arrived exactly on time, was friendly and professional, and his price was right; so we scheduled the work. On the day the jobs were to be done, Mr. Hawley again arrived right on time, was friendly and professional, and did a fine job with the repairs. Primary work completed in one day as scheduled with follow-up the next morning for minor detailing and quality check. Price was not the cheapest in town however quality of work and attention to detail by the Mr. Hawley made it worth it. He repaired the door and is very fair with his pricing and very responsive. First of all, they do very good work and they're very responsive. We have used them on several projects and the one thing I like is if he feels a project is more than he can handle he will recommend somebody to do the work and put me in touch with them rather than attempt it himself and botch it up. I contacted this provider to set up an appointment to get an estimate for repair work to be done on my rental property. I called two weeks in advance of the date I wanted to set a time. I live out of state and was making this trip specifically to meet with contractors and to get bids. I had to call the company twice - they never returned my first message. He was pleasant, however did not want to make an appointment. Instead, he asked me to send him photos of the work that needs to be done. This company is awesome! I needed to do some remodel work on my stucco home. Each individual arrived on time, did very nice work and cleaned up after themselves. The crew that did the work appeared competent, but I like how the owner, Warren, doubled checked his guys' work. Warren did not like how they rigged the ducting in the attic and redid it himself before calling the job complete. Warren could have left things the way they were and I would not have known any better. As a interior designer it is appreciated when you find someone who does Quality work . I worked with Warren today at a clients home . He was great to work with. He was patient with me as he hung the chandelier , add 1 no 2 more links to the chain, woops make that 1 again. That was just one of the projects. He was mindful of the wood floors and kept them protect. He cleaned up after every thing was finished. He shared with me pictures of some of the work he has done ,and I was impressed . We were very pleased using Hawley Construction as our construction partner to remodel our hall bathroom.  From initial discussion of the scope of the project to tying up loose ends and ensuring all final details had been addressed, Andrew guided the process expertly and was a wonderful project manager to work with, managing the schedule, keeping us informed and checking the work details.  Navigating the construction process can be intimidating and daunting, but we were kept informed and always knew what to expect. I especially appreciated Andrew’s attention to detail, including making several key project suggestions that improved on the final scope of our project (such as adding the pocket door and centering the window) and Warren’s spot-checks throughout the process. The entire Hawley team, including Lalo and Manuel and their sub contractors, were competent professionals and clearly took pride in doing good work. We’ve had an opportunity to use the bathroom for a few months now, and the delight of this gorgeous remodel has not worn off yet. Not only is it efficient and practical as designed, but as the season changes and the sun lowers in the sky, the visual delight of the morning light entering through the new larger window bathing the space in warmth and serenity gives me daily cause for pause to appreciate the space and always puts a smile on my face. We reached out to Hawley & Sons, Warren in particular, after a previous contractor left our remodel project in absolute despair. We were in a massive pickle of picking up the pieces. Warren jumped right in to not only assist us with services, but with guidance as well. His team, with included the fantastic Guillermo, quickly went to work on our structural issues and pushed us in the right direction in getting into our home. Had extensive dry rot on exterior of my home. Once dry rot trim was removed, additional damaged areas were discovered. They explained the process and the additional areas that need replacement. Each day, I would receive a written update and discussion so that I would be aware of everything ahead of time. They had to create some custom trim to match existing style. Once all rotted trim and boards were replaced, they painted all exterior trim and replaced boards. Everything blended perfectly. Workers kept everything cleaned up before leaving each day. Hawley & Sons completed dry rot repairs and then repainted our home in May 2024.  A year later he came back and inspected the paint job for any fixes needed, and then his employee did a great job scraping, sealing and painting a few areas for repair. It had been almost 20 years since the last exterior painting of our home. Dry rot was an issue in beams, on siding and trim. One exterior door also required replacement. We received multiple bids and chose Hawley & Sons based on recommendations of friends and observing that Warren Hawley was easily the most organized and detailed in preparing his bid. We also understood add-on repairs were a virtual certainty during the job. Hawley & Sons was not the cheapest bid but considering the quality of work, professionalism, daily organization, overall timeliness and fair billing for add-on work, I do not hesitate to recommend them. Hawley and sons provided excellent service throughout the entire project. Worked well with the architects who made a few small errors in he planning process. 2nd time I've used Hawley and Son's Construction in the last 45 days for work around the house and their work on this job was similar to the first job. On time, professional, competitive and discussed options and pointed out several items I would have missed. Owner Warren Hawley is on top of all aspects of the job and noticed some rot that must have gotten behind the window and down into the outside panel at the end of the day when his crew was done and he had a walk through inspection. He came back the next day and replaced and sealed that entire area at a nominal cost. Hawley and Son's will be my "go to" contractor for future jobs.

Unforeseen: fireplace rattling/resonating when home theater is in use. Warren modified fireplace (added brackets, dampening materials, etc.) to make sure it doesn't make any noise. To say the least: that was not easy! Exceptionally good with masking/protecting the room, our kitchen and family room share same space, kitchen had no dust whatsoever! most communication was done by email, which I prefer.  After some emailing back and forth, we settled on a date for Warren to stop by and look at my wiring and what needed to be done.  Then he gave me an estimate, etc.  I bought the fan based on the measurements and features that he recommended.  His team installed it while I was at work.  There was slight damage to my ceiling because of a misstep in the attic; Warren was professional about that and sent someone out the next day to repair it and repaint.    The fan looks excellent.

It went well. First, Warren showed up and asked a bunch of questions about what we wanted done and was able to give us a quote within a week. I highly recommend Hawley & Sons. Warren and his workers were total pros. Warren was great with communication during our bathroom remodel and his workers always cleaned up after they were through. It went terribly.  I purchased an 8 hour deal for $545 her at Angie's List.  I had never had any contact with the provider before.  I was told that I would be contacted within 2 days and was not.  The email correspondance was poor.  I had to complain to Angie's List that no one was following up with my emails.  Then my email was finally returned.  Warren was certainly not the friendliest, but the smaller projects were done first OK.  He did not want to do work on putting my new basketball hoop to replace the broken old one in the heat, so we resecheduled.  His assistant did most of the work trying to put up the old hoop, and had a lot of trouble doing it.  He could not figure it out.  I was helping him lift it up his ladder trying to attach it while he was on the roof, but he could not get it to work.  Toward the end, the ladder gave out under me and I fell.  Fortuneatly, I grabbed onto my rain gutter, so I did not get hurt.  He finally put the backboard and rim together, and then waited for Warrent to return to put it up.  The frame on the roof for the backboard was already there, excepty for two new 2x4s to raise the height a few inches.  He then started to put it in 3 inches too high, when basketball hoops are, of course, at 10 feet..  I don't know how a professional can miss by that much.  Anyway, the orignal backboard and hoop that was put up took the previousl handyman I used (who I wish was available for this) took less than 2 hours, including creating the entire frame.  Warren and his assistant took well over 5 hours to put it up, incuding 2 extra hours over the 8 I already paid.  Which means, I'm supposed to pay them an extra $130.  So the installation cost much more than the hoop and backboard itself.  Needless to say, I was very upset when I got the bill. First of all, why does it take a professional 5 hours to put up a basketball hoop onto an already existing frame, except for a small adjestment.  Besides, his assistant, who was perfectly nice, did not know what he was doing.  He could not figure it out, which of course, ate up a lot of time, in addition to installing it way too high first.  I tried calling the company to talk about this, and see if something could be worked out.  I spoke to Warren, who was extremely rude and condescending.  I suppose I will have to pay the bill, but I am very angry about it.  I will never use this company again, nor do I recommend anyone use them ever.  This was very dishonest.  And I will let everyone I know never to use them.

I just moved to the state and was overwhelmed with a garage full of packing boxes in no particular order.. When I called and said what I needed, they called back in only a few hours. The next day a hard working, very pleasant man showed up and organized the garage so I would know where to look for the things I need. I have never had a handyman clean up after himself like Warren's team did. They even brought windex to wash the mirrors when they were hung. The quality of the work was excellent, and there was no mess left behind. All packaging was taken away and all dust, debris, etc. were cleaned up. You could not tell that there was anyone in the house after they left! I have scheduled them for a return trip as we have the new fireplace. If you need handyman services this is the company to use. I am a local contractor in Napa California for 25 years in business and 15+ with other contractors in Northern California. One of my best clients lost their home just after three years of renovation to the fire of 2017. They chose to rebuild. I was asked to rebuild their dream house of 5100 s/f and I agreed if I could hire the right people I needed to get us out of the ground and through the frame. After the fire the search was on for good, qualified, insured and bonded contractors which was not easy. Between my concrete construction contractor and Warran Hawley construction, who framed the new house, this dream may not have happened. Warran Hawley and Sons were a fantastic company to work and deal with through the entire framing process. I was truly blessed with Warren Hawley and Sons and would highly recommend them to any one for framing or ground up projects as they handle all aspects of quality home building. We were very pleased with H&S structural repair services in our attic. The crews were punctual and very knowledge of the attic issues we were having. They proposed repair methods which got the permanent repair done in a timely manner. They were not only able to complete the scheduled work but also completed additional repairs to a location in question which we had them inspect. We really appreciate your help with this project H&S. I can't speak to Hawley & Sons' price range, as Warren Hawley flat out refused to let me pay him for the hour of work he did fixing two poorly hung doors in our new house. But I can say he did a fantastic job very quickly, and was thorough and transparent as well. Our back door was hung crooked, and so it was difficult to open and close and wouldn't lock at all. He tightened a few screws and carved out a new hole in the frame for the lock to go in. He was very upfront, explained that this is more a bandaid solution than anything, and told us a permanent fix would involve pulling off the trim and rehanging the door entirely, which would cost $300-500 depending on whether or not the door itself needed replacing (which is significantly cheaper than the $750 estimate given me by another handyman for rehanging the man-door in the garage - essentially the same job). My mother's bedroom door simply wouldn't stay closed, something wrong with the latch. He fixed that one in about two minutes. Since he did such a great job so quickly, I went ahead and asked him about a couple other projects I'm looking into (knocking down a wall in the kitchen, installing a sliding glass door in the guest room), and he gave us clear concise information and some good ballpark estimates. Warren was professional, thorough, and very kind - again, he patiently refused to take any payment from me. I would highly recommend Hawley and Sons for any projects around the home, and I'll definitely be calling Warren again when we're ready to move forward on our next project.

I contacted this provider to set up an appointment to get an estimate for repair work to be done on my rental property. I called two weeks in advance of the date I wanted to set a time. I live out of state and was making this trip specifically to meet with contractors and to get bids. I had to call the company twice - they never returned my first message. He was pleasant, however did not want to make an appointment. Instead, he asked me to send him photos of the work that needs to be done. We needed our water damaged sub-floor in three rooms repaired before the new floor could be  installed. It had to coordinated with the installer’s schedule. Warren Hawley manages time well since he has bigger, more profitable jobs going on at the same time, yet he was willing to do a relatively small job in a rural area. Many contractors can’t be bothered but was necessary for us.

The carpenters were on time, respectful of our property and cleaned up each day. They were careful to keep gates closed for the safety of the dogs which is a must.

The job was completed in two days, under budget and perfectly done. We have several bigger, exterior jobs planned for better weather and will be calling them again.

I paid them extra because the work took longer than the 1 hour of the Big Deal. They put together a bookshelf and a desk. I had the wrong pieces so they had to go back to the store, return what I bought and get the right pieces. Then they came back and put it together. Then he switched out one of my light fixtures. Then he fixed my dog run gates.  I liked that he went and did the work for me. Most places would say, well, I can't finish the job because I didn't have the right equipment. He just went ahead and went to the store and got the bookshelf that I needed.  They are capable of doing a number of different things.

Warren really knows his stuff and I would easily hire him again. Especially for those tasks that require some specialized knowledge. Coming from a building background, I knew that the installation of our dog door was going to be a bit tricky and I did not have all the necessary tools to accomplish the job on my own. This was not one of those easy through the door dog doors - done some of those in the past. I felt the bid was very fair and I liked the fact that Warren, from the get go, gave me the feeling that he was the right person for the job. Everything went as I had hoped. Thank you Warren and Joe. I wish all my experiences with contractors were this easy and great. I sent a list of items that I needed done around the house. They told me it would probably take all day. They said I could purchase materials or they could go to home depot and get them that day. I decided to purchase materials ahead of time so I could get as much done as possible. They arrived on time were very professional and did a great job. They were efficient and I was able to add a few more things to my list of repairs at the end of the day.
